I think it does some pages justice just to have a photo on it with blank white surrounding it to frame it. It drives focus to just the image and lets it breathe.
Also playing with the image overlapping onto the next page, not over sure if this works.
Above plaing with the width of the photos on the grid, which i think still works aslong as everything is inline with everythingg else.
Im able to drag the photo down to the bottom level of the text and to the top of the grid with it still working on the page.
By cropping the photos in different ways i can highlight the specific parts of the photos and place the photos differently on the grid.


With the content im able to start playing with the images around the text. Im going to keep the text to two columns and play more with the photography within the grid.

Using macro here and natural sunlight i was above to capture heather just looking awesome. Really like this photo

I thought it would be nice to take the picture of this track on a much lower level rather then eye level. It works well with playing with perspective, i like how the lines of the walls and floor run down the picture making the 2d image not look 2d.
I really like the above photo. To me it says, the girl is thinking in the country enjoying the sunset in a tranquil setting. Whats nice is the plane above her head, i feel like it says that the world goes on, it also makes it contemporary on some levels.
The above and below i just wanted a traditional looking photo. Capturing someone enjoying some fishing in the country on a nice day, simple but effective.


Above are some of the photos ive taken around the wharfedale valley. Ive tried to do a variety of things with the photos, rather then just havin a set of photos that are macro ive considering lighting, composition, scale etc.

I think the text needs to be in smaller quantities in proportion to the images.






Going into indesign ive been playing with how the text may relate to the images on the grid.

Having three 'beginners guides' in total. The other two came along very easily. Using the exact same design principles as the first ive designed, the only difference is a change in colour choice. Each time though ive ensured the colours use subtly clash without being over offensive to the eyes. This work is very vibrant which makes a change in my design but i do think it works. Looking forward to getting it printed, hopefully there wont be any nasty surprises.

Above i've been playing with background colour although i don't like any of them. The blue is too dark however the pink is too girly and the green isnt appropriate to the content.

As the type has a kind of hand drawn feel to it, it seemed appropriate to try hand drawn type, quite simply though it doesnt work and i wont be using it. The typeface Dinova works well and i'll be keeping it.
Adding a third colour (magenta) is having a clashing effect with the rest of the page which i think further grabs the attention of the viewer. Rather then drowning the page with magenta i think this rather subtle amount works perfectly on the page.
Now I have my hierarchy and a way of doing it im just playing now with the shapes on the page to see how i can make it evermore interesting to view.

Above and below we can see how ive taken or left the shapes around the photo. I think this is working better without the shape around the photo. Instead its giving a sense of hierarchy in that the bulky text is seen first, then the photo, then the bulk of text. Which is correct. The bold text carries the important message and therefore wants to be highlighted. Feeling happier about this, i think its working better.

Ive started to bring in bulk of text which i don't really know yet how to lay it out. However i do like how it doesnt take over the page but the bold text and photo are still the main point of the page.
Above ive found a typeface called 'Dinova' which i think is working well. When typing it out the leading and kerning varies between characters. At the same time it is san serif and bold which is what i was after. It seems to have the impact i want but also a child like play feel to it (if that makes sense).

To give more impact to important words im playing with shape that can go around the type in the same way i have been doing with the photos. This brings urgency and attention to it which i think is important.
