Evaluation
Well I feel i've come to the conclusion that i never want to look at packaging again after this brief. I find it very difficult to communicate on 3d objects. Using each side and area to my advantage isn't easy.
On the plus i did enjoy creating my booklet. Which was also my downfall because i spent most of my time on this and gave everything else little time to design and perfect. I enjoyed playing with the relationship between my images and the type. Although i'm still uncertain that the typeface chosen suits the images. I find it very difficult to find the right one to suit my target audience. With little understanding of my target audience, on reflection i feel that i shot myself in the foot by choosing this brief. When picking this i thought i would enjoy the challenge of designing for over 55 year olds and it would give me the chance to widen my design abilities. However i can honestly say i dont think i achieved this.
From the start of the brief i decided i wanted to produce photographic work focusing on old peoples skin and objects we relate to youth. This single idea dominated and took over my work, I became too indulged with the photos and gave myself no type for development of colour, typefaces, layout. Which admittedly is very poor since i intended on looking at all these things to start with. The one good thing which has come out of this is a clear route i want to take into my third year, photography. It's the one aspect i became intrigued with and really enjoyed. However i know i have a lot to learn about photography which could also be my down fall since i'll be going into my third year with an experimental mind about taking photos which will lead to some mistakes, mistakes im sure i cant afford to make in my final year. But this means i'll just have to work hard at it.
I am rather disapointed in my final outcome if id of been more efficient with my time i could have produced a larger range of work. Lonsdale sell their shoes with tags as shown below. Only at the end did i think about producing my own promoting the youth vs age line. This would of been a nice asset to the shoe box and promotional booklet but because of lack of organisation i didnt manage to get it done.
Next year i will have to be stricter with action plans ensuring i give allocated time to each part of my design work otherwise i'm going to make mistakes through lack of organisation which seems daft.

Although wall paper has a fun texture it isnt cost effective in printing whilst a simpler stiff card which can take the weight of the shoes is. The card is still textured which will be the inside of the shoe box whilst the white smooth side will have the design printed onto it to ensure the delivery is clear.

Going back to the website design I've extended the design outside of 'the box' so its spread across onto other tabs. Done this to ensure it is the centre of attention on the page. I thought the image of the man with head phones is one of the strongest i've taken hence using it in this again since i've used images through all my design because i think its the strongest part of my design carrying the most interest.
So on the Lonsdale website when searching for footwear this is the page which will appear advertising Lonsdale footwear for everyone of all ages. Alongside this i have the advertisement on the homepage promoting the Youth vs Age campaign.
