Sent Laura some examples of different typefaces that are clear, very legible and/or targetted at pupils having a handwritten theme. Laura chose century gothic. I also sent different patterned effects and Laura also chose the one that can be seen below.

I've now applied the design decisions to all the labels and have sent them back to laura to confirm whether she wants anything changing otherwise they can go straight to print.

Above i've reduced the size of the type and centered it more which I think helps make it more readable. Also put the pattern behind the border to help make the dark blue stand out and help to give some hierarchy. I see it as border, type, pattern. Which is what i'm hoping for.

Right ive put clear borders around the labels, ive also changed the type and icons to black to make them stand out and ensure its clear.
Ok so i sent the ideas i have to Laura and this was the feedback she gave. So Laura wants borders around the labels, i do feel like i'm going to be copying the existing labels completely which is a massive shame, i secretly was hoping she'd like the type driven one.

Rather then numbers i thought image icons would be more engaging to represent how many of each product is in the cabinet.
Aside from the below image i thought id best play it safe, after all it is only labels Laura is currently after. They need to be clear and to the point and with Laura being quite straight forward i thought something 'pretty', and clear might be a better approach.
I kept the typeface the same as i think it works as it is. Its bubble style relates to children well and its very legible.
After creating my typeface i thought it might be interesting to create one for a food tech room, so i began playing with imagery and type and created the above. The worry is, legibility which i don't think is too great.

Above are the images Laura sent to me for the existing labels. The words are the same for all the coloured areas.

Above is my live brief and the email from the teacher instructing me about the brief. The brief's very straight forward and wont take long, im hoping that aslong as this goes well more brief's will follow.
